The great man of this edition, Tadej Pogacar won his third Tour de France this Sunday. How much will the Slovenian get?
It’s the day of consecration. With more than 5 minutes ahead of Jonas Vingegaard in the general classification, Tadej Pogacar won his third Tour de France on Sunday, the first since 2021. All he had to do was avoid any incident during the final time trial between Monaco and Nice because, fair and square, he could no longer be caught but he did better by crushing the competition as a triumph with another absolutely lunar stage victory.
For his victory in the Tour de France, Pogacar will receive a bonus of 500,000 euros. His runner-up, Vingegaard probably, will pocket 200,000 euros, while the third, who will certainly be Remco Evenepoel, will inherit 100,000 euros. The sums decrease little by little until the 20th place. From there, all the riders who finish this Grande Boucle will be rewarded with the sum of 1000 euros.
Pogacar, around 600,000 euros in winnings
That’s far from all for Pogacar. Add to that the bonuses for his stage victories, 11,000 euros each time. The Slovenian has already raised his arms five times, and could add a sixth success with this final time trial in which he will be the favorite. He has also picked up 5,500 euros twice, for his second places in Gevrey-Chambertin and Lioran. Then, there are 500 euros awarded each day to the wearer of the yellow jersey, which Pogacar has worn 19 times in this edition.
The Slovenian glutton also led the mountains classification for eight days, which earned him 8 times 300 euros. With his fifth place in the points classification, from which winner Biniam Girmay will pocket 25,000 euros, and his second place in the polka dot jersey, behind Richard Carapaz (who also gets 25,000 euros), Pogacar’s earnings should easily approach 600,000 euros.
