Le Cluster industriel électrique d’Algérie au rendez vous

Algeria’s electrical industrial cluster at the rendezvous

9th West African Energy Forum in Ghana

The Algerian Industrial Electricity Cluster (CIEL) will participate in the 9th Forum of the West African Territorial Energy Regulatory Authority (Arrec), which will be held in Accra (capital of Ghana), from July 24 to 25.
According to the Chairman of the Cluster, Bachir Djilani Kobibi, participation in this Forum, devoted this time to the theme of “security of electricity trade in the West African region: the interaction between national policies and free market rules”, will make it possible to publicize Algeria’s enormous capacities in the field of electrical industries and the examination of promising cooperation opportunities in the fields of equipment, technologies and studies related to electrical energy. This includes the installation, management, distribution, maintenance, studies and securing of installations.
This Forum aims to strengthen the roles of different actors in the field of the energy market, in particular government officials, economic operators and the various bodies of the economic group of West African States and develop the legal framework of the electricity market, in order to achieve the balance between the security of the supply of electrical energy and the rules of free competition within the territorial market, he said.
The same official said, in this context, that the organizers are working to “encourage cooperation between the countries of the group and its environment, by adapting policies and regulations related to this energy sector, especially since the Forum will be preceded by a meeting of the advisory committees of operators and regulatory bodies that are members of the Regional Energy Regulatory Authority of West Africa (ECOWAS/ECWAS).” Thus, this economic event is considered, he continued, as important for the Algerian electrical industrial cluster, due to the discussions on mechanisms to encourage investments in the field of cross-border electrical energy infrastructure, mechanisms for securing financing, the removal of obstacles and compliance with agreements related to the territorial energy market. And to add, this group intends to benefit from the Algerian experience in the field of electricity production and its equipment and to join this regional organization specialized in energy, given that it is considered a continental pioneer in terms of means and expertise. As a reminder, the Algerian Electric Industrial Cluster recently concluded two agreements: the first with the West African Regional Energy Regulatory Authority and the second with a professional association in Benin, with the aim of strengthening cooperation and tightening economic and commercial ties in the field of electrical energy.
