Attaf réaffirme les engagements de l’Algérie – Le Jeune Indépendant

Algeria is committed to the African collective action of prevention and resolution of conflicts on the continent to achieve economic development, following the principle of “African solutions to African problems.” This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf.

In a speech read on his behalf, at the opening of the international seminar on the Algerian revolution in its African dimension, Mr. Attaf highlighted Algeria’s loyalty to its African depth, notably through its unwavering support for just causes on the continent for the achievement of a global and integrated renaissance, involving all the children of Africa.

“Loyalty is a virtue of the Algerian leaders and people, especially towards those who supported its glorious Revolution,” the minister said, stressing that the major interest shown by the President of the Republic in everything related to the memory of the struggle of the Algerian people testified to his deep gratitude towards the friends of the Algerian revolution, in Africa and throughout the world, who believed in the justice of the Algerian cause and its triumph.

For the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the glorious Algerian revolution would not have had such an impact in the world if it had not been a humanitarian revolution, advocating noble values and defending ideals shared by all nations: the right to life, the rejection of racism and the right of peoples to self-determination.

“We must speak here of the struggle of the brotherly Sahrawi people, in the last colony in Africa, who await our support and that of all freedom-loving peoples, so that they can exercise their inalienable and imprescriptible right to self-determination (…) and it is only then that Africa will be able to definitively turn the page on a long history of abject colonialism, brutal occupation and illicit plundering of its wealth,” Mr. Attaf argued.

“Evoking the African dimension of the Algerian revolution, which represents an epic in the fight against colonialism and the defense of human dignity and the values of freedom, urges us to be in solidarity with the valiant Palestinian people in their resistance to the barbaric genocide committed by the Zionist occupation,” the minister said.

He added that “the Palestinian people need, more than ever, the support of our African continent and that of all peoples who believe in the values of freedom, dignity and justice, so that they can recover all their legitimate rights and establish their independent and sovereign state, with El-Quds as its capital.”

“Algeria, proud of its African affiliation, will remain committed to the unitary continental approach to address the multidimensional and multifaceted challenges that still threaten the security and stability of our countries and our peoples, and hinder our efforts to achieve the expected development,” assured Mr. Attaf.

As a reminder, the work of the international seminar on the Algerian revolution in its African dimension, entitled “Algeria and Africa… a common memory, a common fate and a promising future”, continued yesterday with the participation of several African delegations and Algerian and foreign experts.

Several national and African personalities made interventions on themes related to the African dimension of the Algerian revolution, the importance of collective memory and common destiny in building a promising future, particularly in light of current regional and international challenges as well as the war for the plundering of the continent’s wealth.

Algerian and foreign experts also led conferences on several themes including “The civilizational dimensions of religious links in Algerian-African relations” and “Algeria and African liberation movements: continuous contribution and total support”.
