Convention sur l’efficacité énergétique et l’innovation – Le Jeune Indépendant


The National Agency for the Promotion and Rationalization of Energy Use (APRUE) has signed a cooperation agreement with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Algeria for the launch of a project to support energy efficiency and innovation for a sustainable transition in Algeria. This was announced on Wednesday by the agency.

She said that the agreement was signed on Tuesday by the Director General of APRUE, Merouane Chabane, and the Acting Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme in Algeria, Francesca Nardini, in the presence of representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad and Energy and Mines.

This strategic partnership project between the two parties aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the field of energy efficiency, to support the reform of the regulatory framework concerning energy efficiency in the housing sector, to develop the use of green hydrogen as an energy alternative to reduce the carbon footprint in the industrial sector and to promote clean and sustainable mobility.

Mrs. Nardini welcomed Algeria’s efforts and its determination to promote a new sustainable, prosperous and resilient energy model”, said a UNDP statement.

UNDP “considers the energy transition as central to the sustainable development of countries”she said, specifying that the implementation of this ambitious project was the result of close collaboration between APRUE, UNDP Algeria and the UNDP Center for Climate and Energy Transition, in support of the objectives of Algerian energy policy.
