Three candidates for the presidential election have been selected by the National Independent Authority for Elections (ANIE), the latter’s president, Mohamed Charfi, announced on Thursday.
These are the president of the Movement of Society for Peace (MSP), Abdelali Hassani Cherif, the first national secretary of the Front of Socialist Forces (FFS), Youcef Aouchiche and the outgoing President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, whose files were validated by the ANIE.
According to Charfi, Hassani Cherif submitted 87,586 signatures from voters, spread over 50 wilayas, of which 79,782 were accepted, as well as 2,021 sponsorships from elected officials, of which 1,986 were validated.
For his part, Aouchiche filed 1,257 sponsorships from elected officials, spread across 31 wilayas, of which 1,250 were validated.
Furthermore, Abdelmadjid Tebboune submitted 482,533 signatures from voters spread across 58 wilayas and abroad, of which 416,320 were validated.
