According to a statement on the Foreign Ministry website, the letter, which the department’s secretary general handed over to the Iranian ambassador, calls for restraint and prevention of further escalation.
“It is important for Italy that the new administration led by President Masoud Pezeshkian and all Iranian institutions follow the path of dialogue with Europe and with all countries in the region,” the publication says.
