Kursk incursion deals blow to Putin’s prestige marking first ground invasion of Russia since World War II

The surprise incursion into Kursk Oblast by Ukraine’s Armed Forces amounts to the first ground invasion of Russian territory by a foreign power since World War II.

It also appears to be the most severe blow for Russian President Vladimir Putin since warlord Yevgeny Prigozhin’s insurrection in June 2023.
