The SBU detained a Russian spy in Kharkiv who was searching for secret documents of Ukraine
The agressor was planning a rocket strike to destroy technical designs and drawings which are needed to restore industrial facilities.
To find the targets, the FSB recruited a Russian citizen who lives in Kharkiv and works in a bank.
This agent tried to use his acquaintance – a government employee who has access to state information- and asked her about the locations of secret documents.
The SBU discovered the spy early on, documented his every step, and in the final stages of his mission, detained him in his own apartment.
There, they found a Russian passport, videos of AFU facilities, and cell phones with messages to the FSB.
So far, he is charged under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine for espionage, and unauthorised dissemination of info about the AFU, to help the agressor.
He is in custody, and faces 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.
