F ormer US President and Republican nominee Donald Trump has reacted promptly to President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 election, saying his former opponent was “not fit to run”.

Trump issued a statement on his Truth Social network writing, “Crooked Joe Biden was not fit to run for President, and is certainly not fit to serve – And never was!”

He continued, “All those around him, including his Doctor and the Media, knew that he wasn’t capable of being President, and he wasn’t”.

Donald Trump’s campaign has spent the last year-and-a-half viciously attacking Joe Biden, ridiculing his policies, mocking his fumbles and relishing a rematch they felt they would win, but at the same time, they were readying a bevy of attacks against VP Kamala Harris and had prepared anti-Harris videos to swap in that they unleashed as soon as Biden made his announcement Sunday.

Still, they face now a new, yet-to-be-determined opponent at a time when voters have made clear that they are frustrated by their current choices and desperate for new, younger options.
