Energoatom, Ukraine’s state-owned nuclear power company, completed scheduled maintenance on another power unit at one of the country’s nuclear power plants (NPPs) on Wednesday, 9 October.

Details: The repairs were completed 11 days ahead of schedule, and the plant is now in the process of ramping up its capacity.

This year’s maintenance campaign held strategic significance, as nuclear power plants continue to be the primary source of uninterrupted power supply in Ukraine, accounting for over half of the country’s electricity generation.
Background: On 8 October, Russian Shahed drones once again violated the no-fly zone around the Pivdennoukrainsk NPP, which may indicate that Russia is preparing to strike Ukrainian nuclear infrastructure.
