🇯🇵/🇺🇸 NEW: The first 150 U.S. Marines have been relocated from Okinawa to Guam under an agreement to withdraw 9,000 Marines, about half of all US forces, from the island

Under the agreement, 1/3 of U.S. bases are to be vacated with most of the remaining forces relocating to the north of the island away from the population centers.

The agreement was originally signed in 2013, although the provisions of the agreement have not been acted upon until recently.
