Maj. Gen. Oded Basiuk, head of the IDF Operations Directorate, has announced his decision to step down after 33 years of service in the military, including the past four in his current role.
In a meeting with incoming IDF Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Eyal Zamir, Basiuk formally requested to resign. Zamir, set to assume command on Wednesday, agreed to the request but urged Basiuk to remain in his position for the next few months to help navigate ongoing operational challenges, according to the IDF.
