Telegram is potentially developing a “frozen” account feature for users violating its Terms and Conditions. Source code analysis suggests that affected accounts would be placed in a read-only state, restricting all actions, including sending messages. Telegram may offer an appeal process via @SpamBot, with account deletion as the consequence if unsuccessful. Profiles of frozen accounts could also display a visual indicator to other users. It’s currently unclear if this feature will replace permanent bans. As this is based on pre-release code, all details are subject to change.
