JUST IN: Egypt, a key player in brokering a ceasefire in Gaza, has reportedly received encouraging signs from Israel regarding a new truce plan that includes a transitional phase, according to security sources cited by Reuters.
On Thursday, an Egyptian security team traveled to Qatar to discuss hostage releases, the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, and the next steps in implementing the ceasefire, as reported by Egypt’s Al Qahera news outlet.
Earlier in the week, Egypt presented a fresh ceasefire framework aimed at reviving stalled negotiations.
This comes amid renewed Israeli military operations in Gaza and rising civilian unrest against Hamas, following a short-lived period of quiet.
