A new memorandum has revoked G1 visas for Syrian diplomats, replacing them with G3 visas, which are for which are for representatives of governments not recognized by the U.S.

Syria’s state news agency, SANA, has since downplayed this, calling the change a ‘technical administrative procedure.’

Two weeks ago, the U.S. presented demands to Syria for partial sanctions relief.
