The same people that praise the transition of Sunni countries like Saudi Arabia from heavily nomadic to settled societies on a national identity are now insisting that tribal structures are good in Syria.

Do you not see a problem? These are medieval style irregulars brought from across the middle east; a vehicle of Sunni supremacy used to Sunnify non-Sunni societies through birthrates, ethnic cleansing, and radicalization. The Ottomans did the same during the Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek genocides, the Sunni Gulf does so now.

Notice as soon as these tribes are non Sunni, like the Beqaa Shiite tribes, they go from “moderate popular forces” to “drug smugglers”. What a coincidence.

These tribesmen do not think other than what their sheikhs tell and that says wonders. They are untrustworthy.

A massive push for de-tribalization must be the priority of any Syrian government; for there isn’t any now.
