Les véritables enjeux énergétiques et géopolitiques de l’opération de nettoyage ethnique

The real energy and geopolitical issues of the ethnic cleaning operation

Ghaza

In 2007, just before the “melted lead” operation directed against the Gaza Strip, the Minister of Defense, Moshe Ya’alon, admitted his concern to see the gas deposits discovered in 2000 off the coast of Gaza be exploited, in the double sense of the term, by Hamas, to help him, if not to build an independent Palestinian State, at least to finance “his attacks against Israel”.

However, since the discovery of these gas deposits, the Zionist regime wants to attribute the exclusivity of their exploitation, or at the very least, until a recent date, in cooperation with the puppet power of Mahmoud Abbas, the Palestinian Authority. For years, the Zionist state has been working to find an agreement on Gaza gas with the Palestinian authority. Negotiations were carried out without Hamas.
Hamas has always warned that it would reject any legitimacy of a possible agreement. And the Zionist regime is aware that Hamas would oppose, including by arms, to any exploitation of Gaza gas. The Israeli Defense Minister already warned at the time: “Without a military operation allowing Hamas of the Gaza control posts to hunt, no drilling can start without the agreement of the Islamist Radi- cal.”
In May 2023, Hamas published a press release in which it emphasized that it “would not allow the Israeli occupier to use the Gaza gas field as an instrument to conclude political and security agreements with other parties”. This press release was an extension of the multiple events organized by Hamas during the past months to insist on the rights of Palestinians concerning gas resources off the Gaza enclave under Israeli blockade. “We warn the occupation (Israel) against any modification of our law to our maritime resources, in particular natural gas off our coast,” said Suhail al-Hindi, responsible for Hamas, in charge of the natural resources file.
Legally, from a legal point of view, Hamas cannot exercise any stranglehold on Gaza gas, but because it controls Gaza, it can obstruct any gas exploitation by Israel.
Israel has always worked so that Hamas does not benefit from Gaza gas. Including the eradication of Hamas.
Since the discovery of gas deposits, the Zionist entity fears that, even in the perspective of eradication of Hamas from the Gaza Strip, control by the Palestinian Authority of Gas Resources does not lead to the increase in the power and the influence of the Palestinian State. Also, for Israel, the final solution, in order to bypass the obstruction of Hamas to any gas exploitation by Israeli companies and thwart the emergence of a “gas” Palestinian state, powerful rival, is to annex Gaza. Including by an ethnic cleaning operation of the inhabitants of Gaza.
Always control of energy supply has been a major issue for the Zionist entity. It allows it to ensure its safety in energy matters and, above all, to maintain the Palestinian territories in a situation of dependence in order to perpetuate its hegemony, its colonial supremacy. Which controls the gas controls Gaza. The Zionist power is determined to appropriate the sources of gas and oil in Gaza (and the West Bank). And to be able to make this spoliation project concretize, he must appropriate Gaza, even if it means going on the body of the Gazaouis, at the prize price of millions of Palestinian corpses.
This obsession with ensuring the energy supply of Israel is so anchored in the Bourgeois Sionist governing bodies that Golda Meir liked to repeat to her Western hosts who congratulated her to have conquered the “Promised Land”: “Promised land? Which promised land? Why did Moses guide us to the only place in the Middle East who had to be devoid of petroleum? ”
As a reminder, the Gaza enclave has two huge deposits of natural gas, Marine 1 and 2, estimated at 30 billion cubic meters, worth several billion dollars, but never exploited. Better still, other gas and petroleum deposits, according to a map established by the US Geological Survey (US government agency), are on firm land in Gaza and in the West Bank. What nourish the lusts of the imperialist Zionist power and its godfather, the United States, resolved, including by the extermination and deportation of 2.3 million Gazaouis, to appropriate the energy reserves of the entire Levant basin, Palestinian, Lebanese and Syrian reserves.
