The slippages of the former French minister, Noëlle Lenoir, continue to arouse reactions from the Algerian diaspora, but also within public opinion. This affair seems to gain momentum due to its severity but especially of its insulting, hateful and racist words against Algerian nationals.
These shocking words are qualified as real collective stigma against Algerians. They intervene at a time when the crisis between Algiers and Paris took a new turn, following the anti-algerian instructions of President Emmanuel Macron to his government in order to take retaliation measures.
A collective of citizens, made up of researchers, intellectuals, scientists, academics and associative militants, reframed the former Minister of European Affairs between 2002 and 2004 for his hateful and racist remarks made a week ago on the channel affiliated to the extreme right CNEWS. In an open letter, published last Wednesday, the collective calls for an investigation.
“Assimining all Algerian nationals with dangerous individuals, these words constitute a collective stigmatization. They are part of a hate speech based on national origin, affecting the dignity and equality of millions of people, in a context where racial discrimination persists in France, “denounces the collective.
“The audiovisual media, under the control of the Arch, have the obligation not to disseminate content encouraging hatred or violence. The sanctions can go from the fine to the suspension of dissemination, “he said in the letter, through which he challenges the defender of rights, the president of the Arch (regulatory authority for audiovisual and digital communication) and the prosecutor of the Paris Republic.
“You have, as a defender of rights, president of the Arch and procure of the Republic of Paris, the power to self -risk in this type of situation. We know that your institutions have already been seized by associations, elected officials and/or citizens. We solemnly call you to self -risk and instruct this file at your level, as part of your respective prerogatives, ”insist the signatories in their letter.
It should be recalled that Noëlle Lenoir, former Minister of European Affairs between 2002 and 2004, accused, on CNews, of “millions of Algerians” of France of being potential criminals “capable of representing major risks”.
Noëlle Lenoir, who is also president of the Sansal support committee, reacted to the deposits of complaints by maintaining her remarks, adding that “thousands and not millions of Algerians had to be heard” and that she was aiming for the OQTF.
To this petition are added other complaints which were quickly filed by the environmental deputy Sabrina Sebaihi, the Algerian union and SOS racism.
The petition was signed in particular by Fabrice Riceputi, historian, Nacer Kettane, president and founder of Beur FM, Zaïr Kédadouche, senior official, president of the Integration France association, Olivier Le Court Grandmaison, academic, Ouchene Ouiza, elected to Île-Saint-Denis, Christophe Lafaye, Doctor of Contemporary History, Idir Chali, Business manager, Mohand Touazi, economist, Farid Yaker, president of the France-Algeria forum…
