Agents to combat fraud and speculation as well as the services of the surveillance of commercial practices under the Ministry of Internal Trade and the regulation of the national market multiply their actions on the ground, day and night. This in application of instructions relating to the guarantee of the availability of products, the fight against the unjustified increase in prices but also in order to ensure compliance with health standards in order to prevent food poisoning.
Detecting any anomaly is the main mission of regional control agents of the Ministry of Interior Trade, who are strongly mobilized on the ground. Outings multiply during the day, at night and even very early in the morning. In the wilaya of Mostaganem, a team of control of commercial practices, accompanied by the services of the national gendarmerie, carried out a control operation at the level of the wholesale market of fruits and vegetables this Saturday. The objective is to ensure respect by traders of good business practices. This measure indicated the management of the trade in the wilaya, as part of the fight against speculation and the monopoly with regard to large consumption food products.
To the east of the country, in the wilaya of Souk Ahras, it was the slaughterhouses that have been inspected by the services concerned. The Regional Directorate of Commerce has indeed reported an exit on the ground, at 5 a.m., consumer protection agents and the fight against fraud in terms of slaughterhouses to ensure the level of compliance with hygiene conditions, poultry packaging conditions and also conservation conditions in the concern of preventing food intoxications, especially during this period of hot weather, especially that these products are easily perishable.
In the wilaya of Constantine, a night outing of the agents of the trade department and security services, targeted restaurants and cafeterias. This operation is noted in the context of consumer protection for food poisoning. Measures were thus taken against offenders, it was said.
Agents of the trade services of the wilaya of Bejaïa have for their part controlled the respect, by economic operators, of the reference prices of certain products. All these measures, it should be noted, are part of the instructions of the Minister of Interior Trade, which insisted on the need to multiply the control operations on field, through the various markets and points of sale in order to guarantee the stability of the prices.
These guidelines were repeated last week, during a meeting held at the headquarters of the ministry under the chairmanship of the Secretary General of the Ministry, El Hadi Bakir, who had gathered executives from the Algiers Regional Directorate of Trade, in the presence of the director of trade of the wilaya of Algiers and the heads of regional trade inspections of the wilaya.
During this meeting, the SG stressed “the need to intensify the field control operations in the various markets and points of sale, in particular for products whose prices are experiencing an unjustified increase from time to time, such as bananas, apples and red meats”.
He also called to strengthen health controls on food products, by periodically carrying out sample samples to carry out the necessary analyzes, especially for perishable products, in order to prevent food poisoning and guarantee food health.
