At the call of the national organization of Algerian journalists, a gathering of solidarity with Palestinian journalists, who continue to exercise their profession of informing, many of whom fell into martyrs, was organized, this Monday, at the Tahar-Djaout press house in Algiers. The corporation gathered to denounce the assassination by the Zionist occupation of 238 Palestinian journalists in Gaza since October 7, 2023, in flagrant violation of all international laws and conventions.
Intervening on this occasion, the president of the national organization of Algerian journalists, Slimane Abdouche, said that this rally “follows a new odious crime recently committed by the Zionist enemy in the Gaza Strip, with the assassination of six information knights: the correspondents of Al-Jazeera Anas Al-Sharif and Mohamed Qreiqa, the photographers Ibrahim and Mohamed Noufel, as well as journalists Moamen Aliwa and Mohamed al-Khaldi. »»
He added that these names join a long caravan of “martyrs of the truth”, bringing to 238 the number of journalists and media professionals killed since the start of the war of extermination. He stressed that these “shocking figures reveal the extent of systematic assault against the media in Palestine and the international press. »»
He insisted on the fact that what Palestinian journalists undergo constitutes “a blatant violation of all international laws and standards and a war crime in its own right, requiring an urgent international investigation, the pursuit of the culprits and the impossibility of leaving them unpunished. “He also considered that” the silence of the international community and UN organizations represent additional coverage of these crimes and a betrayal of the principles of justice and freedom. »»
He called for free journalists from around the world to unite their efforts to denounce these crimes before global public opinion and to exert pressure on the Zionist entity in order to allow the entry of international journalists to Gaza, to reveal the crimes of the occupation.
For his part, Azzedine Al-Randi, spokesperson for the Palestinian media family, said that “the Palestinian journalist is now a victim of systematic crimes committed by the Zionist occupation, aimed at stifling the voice of truth and concealing the signs of the genocide. »»
He added that the crime that targeted the tent of journalists last week “was no different from the previous assassinations, committed with premeditation and voluntary targeting, having claimed life to 238 Palestinian journalists and their families. »»
