Project for the development of GARA DJEBILLET iron ore deposits

The president-director of the Sonarem group, Belkacem Soltani, welcomed the day before yesterday at the group’s headquarters on Thursday, a delegation from the Chinese company MCC (China Metallurgical Group Corporation), led by the Director General of MCC International, Jia Niyun Shuan, in the presence of the director general of the national iron and steel company (Feraal Spa), Reda Belhaj, as well as several executives band.
The meeting said a statement from the mining company, focused on the means of cooperation between the two parties in the Gara Djebilet (Tindouf) iron ore deposit development project, in particular with regard to the treatment of iron ore and the reduction in phosphorus.
During his intervention, Belkacem Soltani, noted the same source, presented the Sonarem group’s strategy, stressing that the major projects, at the head of which is the project of Gara Djebilet, are of paramount importance for the highest authorities in the country, given their central role in the reduction of the import bill for mineral raw materials.
Stressing, on the occasion, the importance of the use of modern methods to reduce the rate of phosphorus such as the CISP and the HIMLT, which support the production of semi-finished iron in the steel industry, and to accelerate the realization of locally technical tests, through the creation of joint Algerian-Chinese working groups, capable of accelerating the plan of the project.
For its part, said the same source, the director general of MCC International, Jia Niyun Shuan, presented the MCC company, stressing its position as one of the largest construction conglomerates belonging to the Chinese State, as well as its research and development capacities, its expertise in rose, design, construction and development of mines, in addition to its experience in the extraction of minerals and the production of iron and steel and Technical consulting services.
Renewing the interest of his business to invest in the project, the same official expressed his disposal to establish a roadmap to launch preliminary tests and train a joint technical working group, in order to help accelerate the realization of the Gara Djebilet strategic project and to promote the development of the mining sector locally. Making concrete proposals in passing to accelerate its realization as soon as possible, continued the same source.
Finally, the two parties have agreed to create a common technical working group which will hold preliminary meetings in preparation for studies and will start the experimental work as soon as possible, concluded the same source.
