Five records of the Arab championships under the age of eighteen athletics are held by Algerians (three among girls and two among boys), including an old man of almost thirty years, namely: that of Baya Rahouli, in Triple Jump, with a leap measured at 13.48 meters, September 16, 1996 at the Lattaquié Games, in Syria.
The other two Arab records, owned by Algerian girls are those of Souhir Bouali over 100 meters, with a time of 11.61, produced on July 8, 2007 in Algiers, and Baya Asma Araïbia in Heptathlon, with a ratio of 5234 points, obtained on May 17, 2005 in Algiers. In boys, records are relatively recent, since the oldest of the two dates back to two years. It is the record of Louaï Lamraoui, in Décathlon, with a ratio of 6,870 points, obtained on May 26, 2023 in Algiers.
The fifth and last record held by Algerian at the U18 Arab Championships is that of Younes Ayachi at the high jump, with a brand at 2.18 meters, made on February 21, 2025 in Algiers.
The 2025 edition of the U18 Arab Championships will take place from August 23 to 27, at the Radès sports complex in Tunis (Tunisia), in the presence of 18 countries.
In addition to Algeria, the other participating countries are: the Sultanate of Oman, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, Bahrain, Somalia, Sudan, Morocco, Syria, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia competition.
Algeria has signed up with a total of 34 athletes (boys and girls), which mostly achieved their qualification minimums during the Elite & young sports talent days, disputed between the SATO of Stade 5-July (Algiers) and the athletics stadium of Souk El Tenine, in the wilaya of Béjaïa.
In addition to the U18 athletes, the number of the national selection has three young girls under the age of 17, namely: Yasmine Bouallaga, Salsabil Bounemeur and Fatma-Zohra Guessoum.
The half-footage Bouallaga will be engaged on the 800 meters, while the young sprinter Bounemeur will compete in the 100 meters and the 200 meters, and Guessoum will be engaged in the 5000 meters/walking.
These three young girls had shown great dispositions in recent months and the national technical management has decided to reward them, by holding them for these Arab U18 championships.
The national selection has been carrying out since Tuesday a last preparation course at the Center for the group of national elites in Seraïdi (Annaba) and from which it will rally Tunis. This is the 11th edition of these U18 Arab Championships in athletics, and Algeria aims to glean a maximum of medals, of different colors.
