Les fruits du cru font baisser les prix

Raw fruits lower prices

Mostaganem

The drop in prices observed in Mostaganem, in recent days at the level of the fruit and vegetable markets has been welcomed by the population who sees a return to normal, after a very difficult period for households.
Indeed, local production fruits are in force on the stalls of the various Mostaganem markets. The apples, the grapes, the pears, the figs are experiencing a real craze on the part of the consumers and it is not only the prices that motivate them. The apples are “only” 250 dinars/kg, the pears at 350 DA, the grapes at 200 DA and figs, exclusively produced in the Mostaganemish countryside, at 175 dinars. For connoisseurs, who appreciate local products, “these fruits have a smell, a taste, they are sweet and full of water, unlike import products”.
A producer of Sidi Ali, who came to provide his harvest, praises the virtues of local production. “We do not precipitate the harvest of our fruits or their picking, we let them mature in the sun and the wind, these are real organic products,” he said, and to greet “the patience of the producers”. The arrival on the local production markets had a lot of influence on the prices of import fruits. Merchants advance the figure by 30% and more drop. Banana is hardly sold at 350 dinars, the black grape is sold to 200 dinars while it came close to 260, 15 days ago, undergoes the effects of competition from raw products, their price does not exceed 200 dinars against 300 a few weeks ago. Even if local production remains very much below the demand, it nevertheless participates in playing an important role in the correction of prices and market balance.
On the other hand, vegetable prices remained very stable with a slight downward trend. Even salad and zucchini, the prices of which have gripped last week from single to double to 160 DA/kg, returned to affordable levels at 100 DA/kg. N. Malik
