Specialists estimate that the 4th edition of the intra-African trade fair (IATF 2025) should generate major investment, economic diversification and partnerships, by boosting exchanges and accelerating intra-African integration through concrete agreements. They add that the IATF-2025 is an ideal platform to concretize the ambitions of the continental African free trade area (ZLECAF), by transforming discussions into tangible contracts. In fact, this is an event called to present large investment opportunities and meet considerable expectations. The IATF-2025 is focused on promoting intra-African trade and single market support.
The regional director and coordinator of the round table for the countries of southern Africa, Peter Mutakwi, estimated that the event intervenes in a context where the continental momentum increases to strengthen African exchanges and reduce dependence on external markets, welcoming Algeria’s membership in the Pan -African Payment and Rules (PADS), which confirms, according to him, his strong commitment of the zlecaf. He underlined, in an interview with the APS, that the IATF constitutes a major catalyst for intra-African trade, by offering a physical and digital platform allowing to connect economic actors, to conclude agreements and to exchange information, while allowing exhibitors to access a single market of almost 1.4 billion inhabitants. While emphasizing the importance of trade and investment agreements that will be signed during the event, the manager recalled the role of conferences and forums scheduled in the discussion of solutions to non -tariff obstacles and logistical challenges. He also noted that the promotion of goods and services manufactured in Africa will strengthen confidence in local capacities and will encourage the use of continental production.
Thus, the fair represents “the concrete space” which translates the Zlecaf agreement of legal texts into a commercial reality, he underlines. The IATF-2025, organized by Algeria, in collaboration with the African Export Bank, the African Union Commission and the Secretariat of the ZLECAF, will offer a rich program which includes several important events, in particular: a complete African trade fair; a trade and investment forum; The African Innovation Network (CANEX): the African automotive fair, as well as activities for researchers and academics.
