The Algerian ambassador and his permanent representative with the African Union (AU),
Mr. Mohamed Khaled, presided over a meeting devoted to the examination of the reinforcement, cooperation and concertation strengthening pathways between the UA Peace and Security Council (CPS) and the African group in the United Nations Security Council (A3+).
This meeting constituted a central platform for both parties aimed at revitalizing common action and coordination and conferring more efficiency in order to strengthen efforts to consolidate the African block within UN bodies and defend the interests of the continent in the United Nations Security Council, in consecration and in application of the high-level recommendations on peace and security in Africa which has demonstrated its effectiveness and importance in the unification of African rank.
The exercise by Algeria of its double role in its capacity as a member of the CPS of the AU and member of the United Nations Security Council translates its firm commitment and its constant will to strengthen common African action, with a view to establishing security and stability in Africa and to make the voice of UA members heard in the UN stands, so as to concretize the vision and aspirations of the founding fathers.
For their part, the members of the Council welcomed the registration of this meeting on the agenda of the CPS, under the presidency of Algeria, welcoming the maturity of the debate around this constructive orientation capable of consolidating the ranks of African countries and to consolidate their place on an international scale.
