The head of the Algerian business delegation participating in the 62nd Damascus international fair, Boualem Bouadma, put forward, Saturday, the keen interest manifested by Syrian operators for Algerian investments and their desire to see the Algerian presence strengthening in various sectors, in particular following the lifting of several restrictions on the Syrian economy.
“Algerian companies participating in the 62nd Damascus international fair discuss with Syrian economic operators the possibilities of signing contracts for the export of their products to the Syrian market,” he told the APS. Affirming that the realization of these initiatives remains dependent on the settlement of certain points related to banking procedures between the two parties.
Being aware that no less than five (5) projects of agreements were in preparation between Algerian and Syrians operators, especially in the fields of the food industry (drinks and olive oil) and cosmetic products, Boualem Bouadma pointed out that construction materials have aroused great interest in the Syrian part, despite the absence of this Algerian business fair.
“The contact details of specialized Algerian companies have been communicated to Syrian operators for possible future partnerships,” continued the head of the Algerian delegation. Recalling that the Algerian pavilion brings together 14 companies operating in strategic and promising sectors, including renewable energies, food industries and cosmetic products. Upon observing that Algerian participation could also lead to partnerships in the energy field, Boualem Bouadma made the establishment of a first contact of the Algerian company of the electric and gas industries (SAIEG), a subsidiary of the Sonelgaz group, with the Syrian partners.
“The discussions before continuing after the fair, given the strategic nature of this sector,” he said. Noting that the Algerian pavilion receives every day between 30 and 40 professional visits, in addition to a strong crowd of the public. “The Algerian space had also received the visit of political and diplomatic figures, including the media advisor of the Syrian president, representatives of the European Union and ambassadors of several countries, in addition to the Algerian ambassador to Damascus, Abdelkader Kacimi El Hassani,” said the head of the Algerian delegation.
Placed under the aegis of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Promotion of Exports which had stressed that the Algerian participation in this major economic event scheduled until September 5, much more than a simple showcase for Algerian products and services, constitutes a bridge of fraternity and communication between businessmen and investors of the two countries and an opportunity for the exchange of expertise and the strengthening of economic integration in the service of the aspirations of the two peoples.
