Algeria has taken a new step in the fight against violence against women with the official launch of the National Digital Platform Himayati. This was indicated on Tuesday, a statement from the Ministry of National Solidarity, the Family and the Woman’s condition said on Tuesday.
The ministry said that this unprecedented platform, launched for the first time in Algeria, is an innovative tool thanks to an device allowing each victim to report violence, to request advice or support, and to enter into contact with the competent services directly, while guaranteeing security and confidentiality.
It has also been explained that Himayati is not a simple online portal, but an integrated and interactive platform which centralizes all the protective services. From the home page, navigation is designed to be intuitive and accessible, even for users having only a limited mastery of the digital tool. Each woman concerned can quickly identify the action she wishes to take, whether it is a question of reporting an act of violence, requesting psychological support, or obtaining legal support.
When a victim chooses to report violence, he is guided step by step to fill out a secure form which makes it possible to describe the situation in a clear and detailed manner. The ministry stressed that this procedure directly alerts the competent services, whether it be security forces, health structures or judicial services, to ensure immediate and suitable care.
The platform also offers personalized support. Each user can be oriented towards the local structures most suited to their situation, whether for a psychological consultation, medical follow -up or legal support. Himayati makes it possible to follow the evolution of each request, to receive notifications on the processing stages, and to communicate directly with the professionals responsible for the file, thus ensuring complete and transparent monitoring.
In addition, the ministry assured that the platform is designed to reach all women, including those living in remote or landlocked areas as long as they have a phone with an internet connection. Thanks to an interface compatible with smartphones, it provides the protective services accessible remotely, without the victim having to move or expose his situation. The confidentiality and security of information is guaranteed at each stage, so that the victims can use the service with confidence.
In addition to individual management, Himayati fulfills an educational and preventive function. The site offers detailed information on women’s rights and protective mechanisms, practical advice to identify and prevent situations of violence, as well as links to local structures available in each wilaya. The ministry stressed that this dimension aims to deconstruct taboos, encourage solidarity and promote a culture of respect and equality.
The ministry also said that the platform is a strategic tool to modernize public services and bring together citizens’ institutions. He insisted that each report will be taken seriously and that monitoring is insured in a coordinated manner between security services, justice and health. The objective is to send the message to the company that violence against women will no longer be tolerated and each victim now has a concrete tool to protect themselves and assert their rights.
