M. Obasanjo salue les efforts de l’Algérie pour faire de l’édition 2025 la plus réussie


Mr. Obasanjo welcomes Algeria’s efforts to make the most successful 2025 edition

The former president of Nigeria, president of the Advisory Council of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), Mr. Olusegun Obasanjo, welcomed Algeria’s efforts to Algeria on Thursday to make the 2025 edition that she houses from September 4 to 10, the most successful since the launch of this event.
In a speech pronounced during the opening ceremony of the 4th edition, under the presidency of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in the presence of the heads of state and the heads of participating delegations, Mr. Obasanjo indicated that the President of the Republic had informed him, during their meeting last July, of his determination to make the edition of Algiers “the greatest and the most successful” Conjugation of everyone’s efforts to achieve this goal.
The former Nigerian president stressed that this fair, which has imposed itself in recent years as “the most important meeting of trade and investment” on the continent, “is not a simple event, but the symbol of the economic renaissance of Africa, where we are gathered as a trade forces of commerce and investment through the countries of the continent, to infuse life and ambition in the continental free trade area (Zlecaf) ”.
Indeed, he added, this fair has demonstrated, throughout the last eight years, its great capacity to bring together buyers, sellers, investors, innovators and governments of all regions of Africa, thus establishing itself as “a real locomotive for the acceleration of trade and investment flows”.
Mr. Obasanjo recalled, in this sense, that the three previous editions had resulted in trade and investment agreements of more than $ 120 billion and several fruitful intra-African projects, saying that they will be convinced that the edition of Algiers will see the signature of even more agreements, especially since it records, he said, record participation of 48 African countries, or the greatest number in 2018.
The President of the Consultative Council of the IATF also wanted to express his “deep gratitude to the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for his generous cooperation with the organizing bodies (Afreximbank, the African Union Commission and the Secretariat of the Zlecaf), in order to ensure the success of this fourth edition”, greeting his vision in the impetus of the economic development process within continent in various sectors.
Mr. Obasanjo’s speech was followed by the announcement of the choice of the Nigerian city of Lagos to house the 5th edition of the intra-African trade fair scheduled for 2027.
