Make the voice of the Global South to hear with a view to the emergence of a fair and fair multipolar world to constitute the leitmotif of the media forum and the Think Tank of the Global South which took place in Kumning the capital of the province of Yunnan in the southwest of China.

This is an ambition widely shared by the participants in the second edition of this forum which opened this Saturday, September 6, but which does not exclude the role of the United Nations in the realization of a world order far from hegemonism and inequalities faced by the countries of the southern hemisphere.

Representatives of governments, media directors, experts and other delegates who took part in this meeting that has become traditional have pleaded for a multipolar world promoting the construction of a community of destiny for humanity.

Participants pleaded for a new model in international relations based on mutual respect, justice, equity and win-win cooperation with a multilateral system.

This advocacy is based, for many stakeholders, notably African, on a reform of the Nations Organization which has become a vulnerable institution in the process of current conflicts in the world.

The forum thus ends the principles defended by the Chinese president Xi Jinping focused on the rejection of any form of hegemonism and power policy, the promotion of multipolarization and the democratization of international relations.

This vision reflects China’s responsibility as a large country and its commitment to values ​​shared by all humanity.

For some stakeholders, specific challenges to countries such as climate change (Bangladesh) Development (Guinea Bissau), lack of infrastructure (Republic Center Africa) Technological transformation (Myanmar) or reduction of disparities (Pakistan) demand an appropriate response from the Global South decision -makers.

It is a question, as underlined, of fixing the urgent priorities which must be taken care of in the short term but while establishing a long -term strategy which strengthens cohesion within the global south in which emerging countries like the member countries and partners of the BRICS can play a preponderant role.

It is in this perspective that the countries of this block can make their voices heard.

In addition, the fight against disinformation and Fake content generated by artificial intelligence were at the heart of interventions during interventions.

Experts have raised the errors facing the public opinion of the global southern generated by the narratives of the Western mainstream media. It was thus a question of setting up a speech that restores the truth and breaking the hints of manipulation targeting the countries of the global south.

Participants wanted to emphasize that this forum is not ambition to transform into an alliance to deal with Western policies and narratives but of a platform for reflection and proposals within a geographic space which represents 42% of world GDP.

More than 500 representatives of government, media directors, experts and other delegates from the countries of the South, of which Algeria have taken this forum in order to respond to the challenges they face individually or collectively.

Israeli-Palestinian conflicts, between Ukraine and Russia, between Rwanda and Congo as well as the crisis in Sudan have also been highlighted as focal points on dysfunctions and the limits of the current global system.

The question of economic upheavals caused by unilateral policies in trade, access to development, armed conflicts in progress, climate change, ecology as well as technological challenges whose artificial intelligence were at the center of the debates during the three days of the forum.

Organized by the Chinese Information Agency Xinhua and the Government of the province of Yunnan, this second edition which is available under the watchword of the establishment of initiatives capable of granting a global south in the making of a just and fair multipolar world, follows that held in November 2024 in Sao Paulo in Brazil. Algeria was represented by Kamel Mansari, director of publication of the young independent, media signatory of the birth certificate of the South Global Forum in Sao Paulo.

The birth of this forum responds to a wish launched by the Chinese president Xi Jinping who called in 2024 the media of the global southern to unite and to consult to represent the voice of the countries of this part of the world, to promote a multipolar, multicultural world and above all oriented towards the promotion of justice and peace.

The Forum also served as a launching ramp of the South Global Media project initiated by the media management in the province of Yunnan. This project is intended to establish cooperation bridges in the field of training and exchanges between media. These exchanges will constitute a bridge between the province and the global southern media.

On the sidelines of the forum, cultural visits were organized for the benefit of the participants in Kumning, the city in the eternal spring, which is considered one of the flagships of tourism of the Empire of the Middle.

The organizers had refined a rich agenda of visits to the ancient village of Guandu and the village of the Yunnan communities in Kumning, the cities of Milo and Mengzi, Lijiang, Mont Yulong as well as visits to the site of the Fossils in Chengjiang, the natural museum and the Fuxian lake. These immersion visits are supposed to provide participants with lighting on Chinese cultural heritage and its tourist potential. A ceremony dedicated to local tea in enamelled the meeting. Kumning is the pool of tea whose PU’ER serves as an identity of the province and its refinement.
