Algeria called on the UN Security Council on Thursday to urgently use all the instruments at its disposal, including sanctions, against Israel. In his intervention at a meeting of the Security Council dedicated to the recent Israeli assault against Qatar, Mr. Bendjama said: “We are now meeting again following a serious and illegal act committed by Israel. “The attack on Doha” goes beyond the simple violation of the sovereignty of a Member State of the United Nations to constitute an offense to diplomacy “, added Mr. Bendjama, indicating that” the aggression targeted a recognized mediator, working tirelessly to end the effusion of blood in Gaza, which proves irrefutably that Israel seeks neither to achieve peace nor to put an end to hostilities, but to perpetuate war ”.
The Algerian diplomat recalled that Algeria vigorously condemns “the loose Zionist aggression” which targeted the Qatari Capital Doha and expresses “its full solidarity with the State of Qatar Brother and its people”, deploring that “the world is witness to what is happening and is powerless in the face of the appalling images of destruction and human despair”, stressing that ” Israel has struck Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, and now he has attacked a prestigious mediator working for peace, in this case the State of Qatar ”.
Israel “acts as if it were above the laws, as if the law did not exist, as if the borders did not make sense and as if sovereignty was a notion that we could do without, while considering the charter of the United Nations as a fragile text”, continues Mr. Bendjama, insisting, in this context, that “it is not force, but insane acts and Extremist, which pushes the region and the whole world towards the abyss, thinking of being able to act with impunity ”.
Bendjama said that Israel “continues to focus essentially on brutality, to believe that repression is a force and that coercion is a source of security.
