The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, raised his tone on Monday, facing the Israeli aggression against Qatar. In a message read in his name by the Minister of State, Ahmed Attaf, at the Arab-Insidian summit in Doha, the Head of State denounced a direct threat against the Arab-Muslim nation, calling for a united, firm and unequivocal response. Algeria reaffirms its total solidarity there with Qatar and pleads for a concerted regional action against Israeli escalation.
In a firm and lucid tone, President Tebboune stressed that “the hour was no longer half-measures or the timid readings of dramatic events that shake the region”. And to continue: “What Qatar’s brother’s brother suffered is not a simple diplomatic incident. It is a blatant aggression against the Arab and Islamic nation as a whole, against its stability, its values and its principles, “he said.
“Faced with this barbaric attack, Algeria is fully united with Qatar, its management, its government and its people,” said Tebboune, before the heads of state and representatives of the member countries of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). He reiterated the unfailing commitment of Algeria to support Doha in all the measures it will deem necessary to defend its sovereignty and guarantee the security of its citizens.
This political support was also expressed on a multilateral level, recalls the president: “At the request of Algeria and with the support of a large number of brothers and friends, the Security Council met to debate this assault. All of the members expressed clear support and unambiguous solidarity with the state of Qatar ”.
In his message, Tebboune sounds the alarm on the continuous degradation of the situation in the Middle East. For him, the time is for lucidity. “We are at a historic turning point, faced with an Israeli occupant who no longer knows limits or rules,” he denounced. According to him, the State of Israel continues its security only at the expense of that of others, seeking to lead the whole region in a spiral of violence, instability and chaos.
“After Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Iran, it is now Qatar that is targeted. This clearly shows that the enemy does not distinguish. It aims at all that represents a free voice, a point of balance or a peace actor, ”continues the message.
According to Tebboune, the international community is no longer in “restraint, neither weak of will, nor shy at the idea of responding to the Israeli occupation. It is essentially convinced that there is no choice but deterrence and sanction with regard to those who believe they are free from the rules, standards and safeguards applied to others ”. And to add: “that our decisions are aligned with this observation: let’s move forward, united, to translate this growing international awareness into firm measures aimed at containing the arrogance of the occupier, to do justice to the states and peoples of the region, and to accelerate the care of the very heart of the conflict”.
The head of state calls, finally, to end impunity and to redirect efforts towards the treatment of the substance of the conflict, namely the illegal occupation of Palestine, the negation of the rights of the Palestinian people and the expansionist projects which threaten the whole region.
