A new body for monitoring and monitoring the availability of pharmaceutical products was installed on Tuesday in Algiers, at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Pharmaceutical Industry, under the supervision of the Minister of the Sector, Wassim Kouidri. This was indicated by a statement from the ministry.
This system, which brings together representatives of several departments, such as the pharmaceutical industry, health, internal and outdoor trade, as well as pharmacists, consumer protection advice and consumer protection associations, aims to ensure rigorous and anticipative monitoring of the availability of drugs across the country, according to the ministry.
The body will set up continuous monitoring and monitoring mechanisms, making it possible to “detect early any possible disturbance in supply or distribution” and to propose adequate measures before they turn into crises. He will also have to provide “reliable and objective data” public authorities in order to direct their decisions to the most effective solutions, still according to the same source.
In his intervention, Mr. Kouidri considered that this system constitutes “an institutional and strategic achievement” which reflects the commitment of the State to guarantee national pharmaceutical security. He said that the creation of this body responds to “an urgent need”, dictated by the challenges of the sector in a context of “increasing pressures on the global supply market”. The Minister added that the availability of drugs is the “heart of national health security” and is one of the priorities set by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
The Minister also stressed that this system will play the role of “link between the various players in the sector”, from central administrations to laboratories and distributors, to pharmacies and practitioners, based on coordination, partnership and transparency.
Regarding the fire that broke out on Monday in a pharmaceutical factory under the biocare group in El Tarf, Mr. Kouidri said that technical teams had been dispatched to the site to assess the damage. He said that the incident “will have no impact on market supply with products concerned”, while stressing that the new body will also follow this type of event.
For his part, in a statement to the press on the sidelines of the ceremony, the president of the standby body, Bouchra Bouhannache, explained that the structure will have the role of identifying “drugs confronted with supply difficulties”, following real -time monitoring at the level of pharmacies and hospital establishments.
For her part, the secretary general of the National Union of Frame Pharmacists (SNAPO), Nadjia bouleved, said that this device will allow “rapid and effective intervention in the event of a disturbance”. She added that he will also offer pharmacists the possibility of reporting any fluctuation in the availability of drugs and pharmaceuticals.
