The Algerian organization for the protection and orientation of the consumer and its environment (APOCE) published, this Saturday, a series of recommendations for parents, in order to help them accompany their children on their first day of school. This is what a press release indicated.
The organization highlighted the importance of creating, from the start, a climate of confidence around the child. According to the apoce, it is essential to “do not require the student more than what he is able to give” and to ensure that this first day is not a source of unnecessary pressures.
In the same vein, the association also underlined the decisive role of emotional support. She highlighted the need for parents to share their children’s emotions to help them overcome stress and apprehension related to the discovery of a new environment.
The apoce has thus recommended to “warmly welcome the child when he returns home, with a comforting embrace and a word of affection”. In addition to this emotional support, the organization called on parents to favor moments of simple and friendly dialogue. She suggested engaging in a friendly conversation around the details of the school day, believing that such an exchange could strengthen the child’s safety and optimism.
Finally, the Apoca encouraged families to do everything to make this experience pleasant. “We must endeavor to make children happy, motivated and optimistic,” she said, recalling that the first day of school represents a decisive stage in the school career but also in the student’s personal development.
