The Wali of Tizi Ouzou, Abu Bakkar Essedik Boucetta, gave the official start of the school year 2025-2026 from the new Lycée Mohamed-Saïd Maâzouzi, a pole of excellence located in the southwest suburbs of the city. It is in this brand new establishment that the school year was launched for the entire wilaya.
On this occasion, the wali indicated that all the necessary measures to ensure the progress of a serene year were taken, for the three levels of education. Abu Bakkar Essedik Boucetta insisted on the meeting of optimal conditions, essential for academic success. In this context, he put a particular emphasis on catering, “which is ensured for all students this first day”, but also on the transport of students. “Firm instructions have been given to mayors to guarantee the means of travel,” he said, before recalling that transport is primarily intended for students on the first level. However, he added with satisfaction: “We are delighted to see that college and high school students also benefit from the 936 vehicles made available to them. »»
The wali also discussed the school health component. “We have opened, for this return, two new UDS fully equipped in order to take care of the health of our children, especially for screening,” he said. He added: “An endowment operation in dental armchairs is underway for UDS which do not yet have it, because a healthy dentition in children constitutes immunity against other pathologies. “He said that children’s health” is one of our priorities, in accordance with the guidelines and directives of the country’s highest bodies. “
Abu Bakkar Essedik Boucetta has finally specified that “any establishment that does not meet students’ schooling standards will be automatically closed. Fortunately, no establishment in the wilaya is currently declared disaster. The shortcomings observed in certain establishments are supported to optimize their operation, ”he reassured.
For his part, the director of education of the wilaya, Ahmed Lalaoui, said he was optimistic about the smooth running of the school year. “The year will take place in good conditions,” he said, adding that “thanks to the resilience of students, staff and parents, excellent results are expected at the end of the year”.
Ahmed Lalaoui then presented the encrypted data concerning the start of the school year and the available infrastructure. This year, 251,318 students were welcomed in 938 establishments spread throughout the territory of the wilaya. More specifically, 117,958 primary school students frequent 674 primary schools, 88,816 college students are distributed in 187 colleges and 46,544 high school students are registered in 77 high schools. The total number of classes amounts to 9,871.
Regarding the supervision, Mohand Djouadi, head of staff service at the Directorate of Education, said that the staff is estimated at 26,490 civil servants, including 16,503 teachers. Among them, 2,194 were integrated this year. However, he pointed out a certain deficit in terms of supervision in the three levels: 14 principals are missing in secondary school, 20 directors in the Middle and 90 primary directors.
Finally, the manager spoke of the implementation of the new grade of specialized educator, which replaces that of supervisor in primary schools. “Only 50 positions were filled on the 1,442 planned, pending the results of the exams organized by the end of the year,” he concluded.
