The Parliament of Central America (Parlacen) sent an official message of congratulations to Ibrahim Boughali, president of the National People’s Assembly (APN) and president of the Arab Parliamentary Union, on the occasion of the membership of Algeria as a observer member in the parliamentary assembly of the Association of Nations of Southeast Asia (AIPA).
In a letter signed by the executive secretary of the administrative executive body of the Parliament, HD Edgar Sis, the regional body highlighted the scope of this event. She indicated that “this accomplishment represents an important step in the enlargement of the channels of dialogue and regional cooperation, as well as in the strengthening of the links between our countries”.
The Parlacen took advantage of this message to reaffirm its desire to consolidate the interparliamentary cooperation bridges. According to this same document, the Central African institution said it was “convinced that this common effort will help promote cooperation, consolidate peace and support sustainable development, for the benefit of the peoples of our regions and the world”.
For its part, the National People’s Assembly considered that this position illustrates, in the eyes of several observers, “the growing place occupied by Algeria on the international parliamentary scene”. The APN also stressed that this support reflects the “sustained efforts” deployed by Algiers to anchor a culture of dialogue and expand its partnerships through the various continents.
As a reminder, the membership of Algeria at AIPA was formalized on Saturday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during a ceremony organized on the sidelines of the annual session of this parliamentary organization which brings together the countries of Southeast Asia.
The Parliament of Central America, which has Member States, such as Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama and the Dominican Republic, inscribed its message from a perspective of intercontinental rapprochement.
