The director general of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Omar Rekkache, chaired a meeting yesterday with investors who have concluded business contracts with African partners during the intra-African trade fair (IATF-2025).
According to a press release from the agency, this meeting is a continuation of the commitments made on the occasion of this continental meeting. It aims to transform the agreements and partnerships signed into concrete projects in the field, thus contributing to the sustainable development and economic integration of African countries within the framework of South-South cooperation. “The IATF-2025, organized in Algeria, has constituted a strategic business platform, where Algeria has succeeded in concluding contracts of a global value exceeding $ 11 billion,” said Rekkache. On this amount, more than 5 billion directly concern investment projects covering key sectors such as diversified industry, hydrocarbon, energy and renewable energies, food and steel industry. For the first head of the AAPI, the challenge is now to go from the signing of the agreements to their effective realization. “Our mission is to provide investors with institutional and technical support in order to transform these partnerships into real economic units,” he said. In order to meet the expectations of investors and facilitate monitoring of commitments, the agency has set up a communication space via its website. A dedicated link is now available for commercial and investment contract holders. This system aims to establish direct communication between the agency and its partners, allow the presentation of projects and make available all the administrative and logistical conditions necessary for their implementation. Through this approach, AAPI intends to fully play its role as a catalyst for investment and facilitator of intra-African economic cooperation. Algeria, which welcomed this great continental meeting for the first time, aims to consolidate its position as regional hub and actively contribute to the realization of the African continental free trade area (Zlecaf).
