The Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Said Sayoud, said, last Tuesday, the need to accelerate the rate of realization of projects relating to the modernization and development of services at Algiers International Airport ” Houari-Boumediene ”. The Minister spoke, according to a statement from the ministry, at a coordination meeting he chaired at the headquarters of the Ministry, at the Palais du Government, devoted to the evaluation of the progress of the work relating to the realization of a new vision for the development of services of the Algiers International Airport, in the presence of central executives of the ministry. The meeting comes in completion of a previous meeting during which the Minister gave instructions to make a simulation video illustrating with precision the duration of the classic route (entry, registration, control, boarding) compared to the intelligent course. According to the same source, the presentation has demonstrated “the big gap in terms of speed, fluidity and efficiency” between the two processes, stressing “the urgent need to adopt modern digital solutions”.
Following this presentation, the Minister stressed “the need to replace the fingerprint system with digital and intelligent solutions to avoid overload with the acceleration of the modernization operation”. The objective, among other things, is to reduce the queues, to streamline the movements and to offer passengers a service more suited to the current requirements It also requested the development of a specifications resulting in effective contractualization, and ensuring the speed of achievement and transparency in execution, in the context of compliance with legal and regulatory laws and international standards.
Sayoud has also affirmed the importance of coordination with the various players at Algiers airport level, starting with security services and customs and until the Algiers airport management establishment (EGSA-Algiers), with a view to reaching the highest levels of efficiency and performance, in addition to accelerating the pace of execution by adopting innovative technical solutions devoting the digital transformation of digital transformation national airports.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister sent his thanks to the EGSA-Algiers for the “considerable” progress recorded in the development of this strategic project.
The Minister also welcomed the colossal efforts made by security services and customs, claiming that “the success of the modernization and digital transformation operation depends on collective work and the permanent coordination between the various stakeholders”, specifies the document.
