The Sonatrach group has announced the signing of two service contracts with a consortium made up of Chinese companies caiec (China National Aero-Technology Engineering Corporation) and SLPI (Specialized Limited Company for Oil & Gas Pipeline Inspection Technology), relating to the inspection and control of five gas pipelines. The material and human resources of the Chinese party will be mobilized to ensure the success of the project.
The signature ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Directorate General of Sonatrach, in the presence of the CEO of the Public Group, Rachid Hachichi, CEO of Caiec, Yucheng Zhao, and the Vice-President of SLPI, Hua Yang, said Sonatrach in a press release, adding that these agreements relate to the inspection and the control of five gas pipelines with a total length of 3.576 km, by means of rackers equipped with high precision measurement tools. Among the works concerned are two strategic behaviors intended for the supply of international customers, namely the gas pipeline A gas pipeline is a pipeline intended for the transport of gasoline materials under pressure, most of the time hydrocarbons. Depending on their nature of use, gas pipelines can be classified as three main families: 1- Collection pipelinesbringing the gas out of the deposits or underground storage to treatment sites. 2- transportation or transit, transporting under high pressure the treated gas (dehydrated, desulfurée, …) at the doors of urban areas or industrial consumption sites 3- Distribution pipelinesdistributing low -pressure gas as close as possible to domestic consumers or small industries. GO2 (548 km) and the GPDF (521 km).
According to a press release from the national company, the two contracts were awarded after an open national and international tender, with an execution period set at 24 months for each of them.
This approach is part of the application of executive decree n ° 21-314 of August 14, 2021, which frames the procedures for monitoring and controlling hydrocarbon transport systems by pipes, according to the explanations of Sonatarch. It also reflects, it has been reported, Sonatrach’s desire to strengthen the security and reliability of its vast network of pipelines thanks to regular inspections and in accordance with standards.
In his speech pronounced on this occasion, Mr. Hachichi highlighted the importance of the activity of transporting hydrocarbons by Sonatrach pipeline, adding that the group has a network of 22,000 km pipelines requiring meticulous monitoring to guarantee its safety.
He added that the two contracts signed today aim to inspect pipelines using smart machines allowing rapid intervention, thus avoiding dysfunctions and guaranteeing the safety of hydrocarbon transport pipes.
For his part, Mr. Zhao said: “The company will mobilize its best material and human resources to ensure the success of the project. “Expressing his wish that” this agreement will serve as a starting point for other projects between the two parties, especially in the fields of digital transformation and the use of drones, as part of a win-win partnership “.
