The use of the remote management system will open up new perspectives for more precise management of the drinking water network, thus contributing to the improvement of the public water service. This was underlined by the Minister of Hydraulics, Taha Derbal, in a statement to the press, on the sidelines of his inspection visit to the wilaya of Saïda.
The minister explained, in this context, that this new technology will make it possible to remotely control all installations related to drinking water, including valves, pipes, pumping stations and storage facilities.
He added that this system, the implementation of which has already begun by Algérien des Eaux, will constitute “an effective solution for better time management and to avoid technical problems that hinder the management of the water network”, thus making it possible to achieve positive results in improving public service for citizens.
The minister also indicated that other similar projects will be quickly carried out on a national scale, with the aim of allowing remote management of all installations dedicated to drinking water.
During his visit to the remote management center of the drinking water network in the capital of the wilaya, he welcomed this modern equipment, which currently covers the networks of the municipalities of Saïda, Ouled Khaled and Aïn El Hadjar, with an extension planned in the future to include all other municipalities.
Furthermore, Mr. Derbal proceeded, in the city of Saïda, to the laying of the first stone for the construction of a water reservoir with a capacity of 1,000 cubic meters, a project with a budget of more than 174 million dinars and whose completion time is set at 12 months, within the framework of the sectoral program.
He also inspected, in the “El Badr” district of the same city, a water reservoir project with a capacity of 3,600 cubic meters, financed to the tune of 136 million dinars, still within the framework of the sectoral program. He also examined the work of the project to strengthen and secure the drinking water supply to the city of Saïda from the Doui Thabet field and the Saïda plateau, with the construction of storage facilities in the commune of Doui Thabet.
Finally, in the Barbour region (municipality of Doui Thabet), the minister visited a drilling site for an exploration well 400 meters deep.
