The Minister of Health, Mr. Mohamed Seddik Aït Messaoudene, chaired a coordination meeting dedicated to the examination and monitoring of “priority” files in the sector, with a view to strengthening and developing the national health system, in accordance with citizens’ expectations, a ministry press release said on Wednesday.
During this meeting, the minister followed “a detailed presentation presented by the general director of pharmacy and health equipment, who reviewed the results of the activities recorded between 2023 and 2025, as well as the axes of the action plan for the year 2026”, specifies the press release.
The minister also followed a second presentation presented by the Director General of Human Resources, on “the mechanisms for planning and deployment of medical and paramedical teams, and investment in human capital for health”, and a third presented by the Director of Information Systems and IT, on “the progress made in digitalization and development of digital management platforms for the sector”.
After following these presentations, Mr. Aït Messaoudene gave a series of instructions, emphasizing the need “to ensure the permanent availability of medicines and medical equipment, as a strategic priority in sector policy”, as well as the importance of “close coordination between the different actors, in order to avoid possible disruptions in supply and to ensure continuity of care at the level of health establishments”.
Aït Messaoudène called for “the need to monitor the stock of medicines at the level of all health establishments, through the development of precise statistics via digital platforms, allowing rapid intervention to avoid any possible shortage, particularly in anti-cancer drugs”, affirming that “digitalization is an irreversible strategic option for the management of pharmaceutical and medical resources and the improvement of governance of the sector”.
He further stressed the need to “strengthen cooperation mechanisms between the health sector and related sectors within the framework of intergovernmental action to achieve a more effective and sustainable integrated approach”, adopting the principle of “proactive action in maintenance to ensure the operationality of vital medical equipment and avoid any breakdown affecting services”.
He also underlined the imperative “to ensure spare parts and activate control and rapid intervention mechanisms in the event of a malfunction”.
