Sifi Ghrieb installs the new members of CNES

The swearing-in ceremony of the members of the National Economic, Social and Environmental Council (Cnese), thus validating their status as member of the Council for the 2025-2029 mandate, was chaired, this Monday at the Palais des Nations (Algiers), by the Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, charged by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. In his speech, the Prime Minister stressed that this inauguration had been ordered by President Tebboune, thus confirming his firm desire to strengthen the Council as an element of national governance.
The Prime Minister added that this investiture is important for institutional strengthening, the establishment of the rotation year and the consecration of the principle of dialogue.
The Prime Minister explained that the Cnese has become a consultative and prospective space that helps national institutions and the State to meet the major challenges it faces, thanks to the great attention that the President of the Republic has paid to it through constitutional reforms.
The Prime Minister affirmed that Algeria is moving resolutely towards sustainable development, based on a diversified economy, a united society and a preserved environment, while strengthening the social character of the State. He stressed that the realization of this vision requires “the mobilization of all efforts to translate on the ground the strategy of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune”.
In this regard, Sifi Ghrieb recalled that strengthening the social character of the State is at the heart of the priorities. He mentioned the unique model in terms of housing, which will allow the distribution of two million housing units during the current season. It is, he indicated, the expression of the desire of the public authorities to consolidate the social dimension of the State and to ensure a fair distribution of wealth.
For Sifi Ghrieb, the new composition of the Cnese constitutes an essential lever for strengthening consultation, mobilizing national skills and promoting constructive dialogue around major economic and social reforms.
There is a desire on the part of the State to anticipate global economic changes, by adapting and diversifying the national development model, noted the Prime Minister. It is a proactive approach that leads to concrete and positive results in complex economic circumstances.
In terms of energy, the Prime Minister highlighted the exceptional dynamics that the country is experiencing in this sector, which is recording a modernization of infrastructure and a development of national capacities in the valorization of hydrocarbons and processing industries, in particular petrochemicals. The field of renewable energies was mentioned by the Prime Minister, which will allow, as a factor of a flexible and sustainable energy transition.
Another sector that the Prime Minister cited was agriculture, where he praised the notable progress recorded in recent years. He noted that agriculture is one of the essential drivers of the national economy, as evidenced by the strategic crops and major agricultural projects launched in the South.
The Prime Minister discussed the Government’s action to strengthen national solidarity and improve social protection mechanisms, while controlling inflation.
These efforts made it possible to preserve purchasing power and guarantee the rights of all citizens, he added.
The installation of the members of the Cnese is part of the periodic renewal of the composition of the Council and the consecration of the principle of alternation in terms of representation, with a view to strengthening the dynamics and efficiency of its performance, in order to enable it to better accomplish its consultative missions, in the service of the economic, social and environmental development of the country, as a space for dialogue, consultation, proposals, analysis and foresight.
The 67th issue of the Official Journal published the decision establishing the list of members of the Cnese, which includes 198 members. This will be completed later by the remaining members.
The list brings together executives from different sectors, organizations and national institutions, experts, university teachers, trade unionists and representatives of civil society and the associative movement.
