The Spanish Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande Marlaska Gomez, welcomed, Monday evening, the results of the working visit which took him to Algeria and his meeting with the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud. Stressing that this visit is the fruit of a long work between our public services, during which the technical teams have continued to work together, to coordinate, to exchange information and expertise, by establishing relationships of trust, having led, today, to working meetings with objectives achieved, in particular those that we aspire to achieve with the desire to guarantee efficiency, particularly in terms of security and coexistence, two essential points for our two companies.
Speaking at the end of the audience granted to him by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic in the presence of the Director of Cabinet at the Presidency of the Republic, Boualem Boualem, and the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, the Spanish Minister of the Interior expressed his gratitude and thanks to the President of the Republic for the welcome given to him.
Expressing his wish to soon receive the Minister of the Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, Saïd Sayoud in Madrid, and that he can return for another visit to Algeria, with a view to further promoting bilateral cooperation, in the service of the security of Algeria and Spain.
Affirming that the two countries are aware of the scale of the challenges they face, in view, he said, of their common past, present and future which push them to move forward towards cooperation and coordination of efforts for a clear objective, that of ensuring a serious and quality service to achieve prosperity and coexistence between the two societies, Fernando Grande Marlaska Gomez indicated that this meeting confirms the serious will which drives the two countries and the two Governments to deepen their bilateral relations.
Expressing the serious desire that animates the two countries and the two Governments to deepen cooperative relations and achieve greater prosperity for the benefit of both peoples, the Spanish Minister of the Interior affirmed having discussed with the President of the Republic the numerous issues in the areas of the fight against illegal migration and the fight against human trafficking networks which exploit vulnerable and weak categories, in addition to the fight against drug trafficking, terrorism and extremism.
But also other equally important areas of cooperation between the two countries, such as Civil Protection, road safety and climate change, which has led to disastrous consequences seen in recent years in Algeria, Spain and other countries.
Highlighting the serious desire of both countries for cooperation in establishing bases that will make their work more effective in preventing and combating these phenomena, Fernando Grande Marlaska Gomez also emphasized the importance of cooperation in the field of road safety, through the development of policies that are capable of saving lives.
“Our common desire is to cooperate in order to establish principles allowing us to be more effective in preventing and responding to these phenomena,” he continued.
Regarding road safety, the Spanish Minister of the Interior considered that it is necessary to design, plan, structure and implement policies aimed at saving lives and avoiding deaths on our roads. Previously, the Spanish Interior Minister highlighted the quality of excellent relations between the two countries, as well as the effectiveness of coordination between the two sectors, affirming that Algeria is an essential and strategic partner for his country, both facing common challenges, which requires cooperation, coordination and the search for new directions beneficial to both countries.
