Customs provisions reflect the reforming and economic vision of the State

PLF 2026:

The Director General of Customs, Major General Abdelhafid Bakhouche, affirmed, Monday in Algiers, that the customs measures and provisions provided for in the 2026 Finance Bill (PLF) enshrine a set of essential objectives reflecting the reform and economic vision of the State.
Major General Bakhouche clarified, during a hearing session before the Finance and Budget Committee of the National People’s Assembly (APN), chaired by Mohamed Ben Hachem, as part of the examination of the provisions of the PLF 2026, that these measures aimed to ensure greater flexibility in the commercial and logistics sectors, while supporting the African dimension of the country’s economic and commercial cooperation.
He explained that the bill included measures to reduce queues at ports and free up space within ports and airports, and to direct goods placed under customs deposit to depot areas, with the possibility of creating new ones.

The project also includes new measures aimed at strengthening control of the movement of funds across borders, as part of national efforts to combat money laundering, by unifying the threshold for the declared amount of currency by travelers at 1,000 euros, whether they are Algerians or foreigners, residents or non-residents, he added.
Under the draft, customs officials may request additional documents or information on the origin and destination of the funds being moved.
