Air Algérie is strengthening its presence on the African continent with the opening, last Tuesday, of a new line linking Algiers to N’Djamena (Chad). This service will improve the network of air links between Algeria and different African countries. It will also contribute to strengthening relations of cooperation, economic, commercial and cultural exchanges with the Republic of Chad, while facilitating travel for travelers to/from the capitals of the two countries.
The launch of this new line comes in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He had ordered, during the work of the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025), the opening of a direct airline to the Chadian capital and its inclusion among the priorities of Air Algérie. The objective is to strengthen ties between the people of the two countries.
As part of this connection, Air Algérie will benefit from the “right of the fifth air freedom”, allowing it to operate regular flights between Algiers and N’Djamena, with a stopover in Douala, and to offer passengers the possibility of purchasing tickets to travel between the Cameroonian city and the Chadian capital, on both the outward and return trips.
This opening constitutes a new step in the national airline’s strategy aimed at expanding its African network, and anchoring “the role of Algeria as a regional air transport hub, in response to the aspirations of its customers.”
It also represents an additional asset for the national carrier, which aspires to become “leader in air transport in Africa”, according to previous statements by the CEO of the national company, Hamza Benhamouda.
This ambition is part of the strategic vision of the public authorities, with a view to strengthening air services between Algeria and the countries of the continent, as part of a commercial policy guaranteeing quality services at the best prices.
The commercial strategy of the national carrier is based on Algeria’s strategic geographical position and vast surface area, as well as its land borders with seven countries and its role as a gateway to Europe, all assets which reinforce its African depth and make it a privileged access point to the continent’s markets.
President Tebboune has repeatedly stressed the importance of moving towards the African continent and the need to find ways to take full advantage of its potential and resources, in order to increase inter-African trade, in accordance with the aspirations of the people of the continent.
In addition to expanding its network, Air Algérie has also launched, as part of its strategy, a program to acquire new aircraft to strengthen its fleet, particularly after the signing, in May 2023, of two (2) contracts with aircraft manufacturers.
