The Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, has been taking part since yesterday, at the head of a delegation made up of executives from the sector, in the 27th Ministerial Meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), which will continue until this evening, in Doha (Qatar), indicates a press release from the ministry.
This meeting will make it possible to examine the evolution of global gas markets, their short, medium and long-term prospects, as well as the means of stabilizing them, strengthening the security of supplies and maintaining the balance between supply and demand, so as to preserve the interests of producing and consuming countries.
The meeting, which will be chaired by the Minister of Oil and Gas of the State of Libya, Khalifa Rajab Abdulsadek, current president of the GECF, will see the participation of ministers in charge of energy from member and observer countries, as well as representatives of international organizations and institutions responsible for energy issues, who will examine ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between member countries and several related organizational and administrative files to the management and improvement of the institutional functioning of the Forum, specifies the same source.
This will be an opportunity for participants to exchange views and deepen coordination between Member States around the challenges facing the natural gas industry, in a context of global geopolitical and energy changes.
This meeting will also be an opportunity to “reaffirm the central role of natural gas as a source of clean and reliable energy, and an essential element of the energy transition and sustainable development”, according to the same source.
