Military prosecutors have filed charges against an Arab terrorist accused of orchestrating a failed series of bus bombings in central Israel earlier this year.

The February 20 attack saw three buses explode in succession in parking areas in Bat Yam and Holon. Two additional explosive devices were later found on other buses in Holon and safely defused. All five buses were empty at the time, and no injuries occurred.

The accused, Abed al-Karim Snober, was arrested in July. According to the indictment, Snober and several accomplices began planning the attack in January, with the goal of causing mass casualties in crowded civilian areas. Investigators say he assembled improvised explosive devices packed with nails and screws for maximum lethality.

On the day of the attack, authorities allege Snober infiltrated into Israel, planted the bombs on four different buses in the Tel Aviv suburbs, and set staggered timers for detonation. After some of the devices exploded and the others were discovered, he fled back to Judea & Samaria and moved between safehouses to evade capture.

Prosecutors say that while in hiding, Snober began preparing for a follow-up suicide bombing in Tel Aviv, manufacturing additional explosive devices and attempting to coordinate assistance. His arrest in July prevented the planned attack.

Snober will remain in custody until the conclusion of the legal proceedings. Additional indictments have been filed against others suspected of assisting in the operation, including a resident of Holon who allegedly transported Snober to the bus locations.
