British reporters tracked 154 convicted Hamas terrorists—deported under the Gaza ceasefire–hostage deal—living among tourists at Cairo’s Renaissance Mirage City, a Marriott-managed five-star resort. The Jerusalem Post amplified the Daily Mail’s findings, including images of the men mingling around the property’s restaurants and pool. 

Among those identified: Mahmoud Issa, jailed for the abduction and murder of Border Police Sgt. Nissim Toledano; Samir Abu Nima, convicted for the 1983 Jerusalem bus bombing that killed six, including an 11-year-old; and Muhammad Zawahra, tied to a lethal 2024 shooting near Ma’ale Adumim. 

After the exposé, the hotel told Israeli TV it had hosted “more than 150” deported terrorists—but said they’re no longer on site. Times of Israel reported the confirmation and the hotel’s statement that the group had left. 

As part of the deal, Israel released roughly 2,000 security prisoners—about 250 were lifers for deadly attacks—with the worst offenders deported rather than returned to Judea & Samaria. Separate on-the-ground reporting says 154 ex-prisoners were placed in an Egyptian hotel under tight surveillance and cannot leave without clearance; a PA prisoners’ official told AFP their upkeep is being covered by Qatar while resettlement options are discussed.
