The National Microcredit Management Agency (Angem) has participated, since its creation in 2004, in the financing of one million projects, which has enabled the creation of two million jobs. This was indicated yesterday by the agency’s general director, Souad Bendjemil, during her speech on Channel III of the National Radio.
Angem is today a very active and essential player in the national economic landscape, particularly with regard to the development of the local economy with the financing of micro-enterprises and micro-activities, said Ms. Bendjemil. This is reflected in the financing of a million projects since the creation of Angem, according to the same manager who described this general assessment as a “success”.
Regarding the results of the first half of 2025, she indicated that 11,000 projects were financed during this period.
According to the speaker, this million beneficiaries, who contributed to the creation of two million jobs, are visible on the Angem database. He is also still active, because he participates in events, trade shows and other exhibitions that the Agency organizes to help them market their products.
Referring to some key examples of success stories, the speaker spoke of seven beneficiaries who exhibited their products at the last Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF-2025), held last September in Algiers. These companies specializing in several areas, such as the production of argon oil, natural soap, spare parts, or even exotic fruits, have signed export contracts for 3 million USD with African countries, such as Mali, Niger and Mauritania.
Asked about the actions carried out by the Agency to boost the activity of micro-enterprises, Ms. Bendjemil highlighted local work where coaches invite citizens to integrate the economy through entrepreneurship.
In addition to financing projects, the Agency also offers training, marketing assistance and building relationships with companies active in their professions, she continued.
Regarding the development of micro activities, Ms. Bendjemil indicates that Angem plays the role of incubator. It works on the guidance of citizens who do not have a diploma, in coordination with the Chamber of Crafts and Agriculture, with the aim of facilitating the qualification of their profession.
In relation to the current trend, Ms Bendjemil mentioned the collection of plastic which is done informally.
“Currently, there is a big trend, geared towards the green economy, which is the collection of plastic waste. However, it is done informally,” she regretted.
In order to formalize this action, Angem launched the financing operation for 1,000 collectors for the purchase of a tricycle. According to the Director General of the Agency, they will first benefit from quality training, adequate to respect the environment, with the assistance of the Ministry of the Environment and Quality of Life.
“We will also direct them towards companies that recycle this plastic. So, these young people will be trained and will work in the formal sector to sell their product which is the raw material par excellence now,” she said.
