Le Conseil de la nation dit « oui » à l’unanimité – Le Jeune Indépendant

The Council of the Nation unanimously adopted yesterday two texts creating new military medals, a tribute to the commitment and sacrifice of the men and women of the People’s National Army (ANP). These distinctions strengthen the link between the State and its military institution, while celebrating patriotism and loyalty in the service of national sovereignty.

The plenary session, chaired by Azouz Nasri, President of the Council of the Nation, was held in the presence of the Minister of Relations with Parliament, Ms. Nadjiba Djilali, as well as representatives of the Ministry of National Defense. At the end of the vote, Mr. Nasri underlined the fundamental role of the ANP, “worthy heir of the National Liberation Army (ALN)”, qualifying it as “the foundation of the Algerian State, source of patriotism and bulwark against malicious hands”. According to him, these two texts embody “the cohesion between the State and the military institution” and symbolize “the recognition of the nation towards the sacrifices of its children in the service of the defense of national sovereignty and the consolidation of the values of the Republic and national identity”.

The new medals constitute a solemn tribute to the dedication, loyalty and self-sacrifice demonstrated by the men and women of the ANP. They also reflect “the gratitude of the people and the State towards those who dedicate their lives to the security and stability of the country,” added Mr. Nasri, welcoming the constant action of the Army in modernizing its capabilities and protecting citizens.

For her part, Ms. Nadjiba Djilali described the adoption of these texts as a “collective signature of a national charter”, placing this gesture within the framework of a “new milestone in the foundation of the ANP”. The minister insisted on the moral and symbolic dimension of these laws, which enshrine “loyalty and fidelity to the sacrifices of women and men in the service of the homeland”.

Before the vote, the National Defense Commission of the Council of the Nation presented an additional report emphasizing that these texts are fully in line with the guidelines defined by the President of the Republic. According to this report, they “consecrate the culture of merit and dedication to the homeland, while strengthening the spirit of belonging, loyalty and self-sacrifice within the National People’s Army”.

By thus promoting the courage and commitment of the military, these medals also reflect “the political will of the Algerian State to recognize the efforts of those who contributed to the safeguarding of national sovereignty, under the banner of the ANP and the far-sighted leadership of the President of the Republic”.
