The Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security, Abdelhak Saïhi, gave firm directives to the executives of his department to strengthen the link between young job seekers and the economic world, insisting on the modernization of public service through digitalization and the quality of care for citizens. This was stated in a press release from the ministry on Monday.
Saïhi affirmed that “our role is to support young people towards jobs that correspond to their skills in order to support the dynamics of the national economy”, stressing that the effectiveness of the employment system is based on close cooperation between the structures of the ministry and economic operators. Speaking during a working session held at the headquarters of his department, in the presence of central administration executives, the minister outlined the broad outlines of a new approach focused on proximity, efficiency and transparency.
Saïhi thus highlighted the importance of active mediation between young people and economic companies, calling for intensifying field meetings in order to better understand the real needs of the labor market and to direct job seekers towards positions corresponding to their qualifications. As such, the first manager of the sector gave firm directives to ensure “rigorous monitoring of the processing of files and the acceleration of administrative procedures, to avoid the bureaucratic delays often pointed out by job seekers.
Beyond the question of employment, Mr. Saïhi also placed the quality of public service at the center of his intervention. He instructed his executives to develop a short and medium-term action plan, based on the complete digitalization of services and the improvement of relations with citizens. “The effective care of citizens and the guarantee of their legitimate rights must remain an absolute priority,” he insisted, insisting on the need to strengthen coordination between central and local structures, in order to ensure a rapid and adapted response to citizens’ concerns.
Public service at the heart of priorities
In this context, Mr. Saïhi ordered the establishment of continuous performance evaluation mechanisms as well as regular supervision of the reception and processing of files, ensuring that “the quality of public service directly reflects the credibility of the administration”.
The minister also urged his officials to intensify cross-sector cooperation, particularly in the area of digitalization, to ensure the interconnection of platforms and the automatic exchange of data between public institutions. He insisted that “the modernization of the sector inevitably involves digitalization, which will reduce unnecessary travel by citizens and simplify their administrative procedures.”
In another part of his speech, Mr. Saïhi focused on the partnership being strengthened with the Slovenian Rehabilitation Center, an institution recognized for its expertise in the design and manufacture of orthopedic devices and prostheses. He gave firm instructions to accelerate the realization of the bilateral cooperation project, which is part of the guidelines of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in order to promote international partnerships with a strong human and social dimension. This collaboration, underlined the minister, has the main objective of improving the care of people with disabilities, based on the transfer of skills and technologies between Algeria and Slovenia. He added that it also reflects the sector’s desire to open new perspectives in the field of functional rehabilitation and socio-professional reintegration.
Closing the meeting, Mr. Saïhi launched a call for unity and cohesion within the sector, believing that the success of reforms requires collective, coherent and results-oriented work. Declaring that “we must combine our efforts and act as a team to translate the State’s commitments to citizens on the ground”, he recalled that service to citizens remains the cornerstone of the ministry’s action program. He also reaffirmed his department’s desire to give substance to national guidelines in the field of work, employment and social security, through concrete, measurable and visible actions for the population. The minister thus assured that “citizens expect results, not promises. Our responsibility is to offer them modern, accessible and trustworthy services.”
It should be noted that this meeting is a continuation of the reforms undertaken by the government to modernize public governance and boost the job market. It illustrates the State’s desire to build a more efficient, more digital administration and closer to the citizen, while strengthening the synergy between the economic and social sectors with a view to meeting the aspirations of young people in search of concrete prospects.
